Naproxen Sodium Tablets USP 220 mg is a nonsteroidal anti‑inflammatory drug (NSAID) used as a pain reliever and fever reducer, delivering naproxen sodium 220 mg (equivalent to 200 mg naproxen) with strength that lasts up to 12 hours; it temporarily relieves minor aches and pains from arthritis, muscular aches, backache, menstrual cramps, headache, toothache, and the common cold, while also reducing fever, and should be taken with a full glass of water and preferably after food to minimize gastrointestinal irritation, with cautions about allergy risks (especially for aspirin‑sensitive individuals), stomach bleeding (especially in those over 60, with ulcer history, using blood thinners or alcohol regularly), and potential increased risk of heart attack or stroke if used longer or in higher doses than directed; adults and children 12 years and older may take one tablet every 8‑12 hours, with an initial option of two tablets in the first hour, not to exceed two in any 8‑ to 12‑hour period or three in 24 hours.
